Another pay-cycle comes, another trip down to the retail outlets (friendly reminder, were grass-roots).
So what did I pickup this month? Well glad you asked cause I’m eager to share.
After a slow July, cant say August is looking any better. OK so The Ashes 2009 & Sacred 2 : Fallen Angel have my interest, but are these full price prospects? i think not. So once again its back to the ol’e memory lane to dig up whats on the cheap today, and I think I’ve done a pretty good job.
Xbox360
Banjo Kazooie – Nuts & Bolts
The Darkness
Ridge Racer 6
Civilization Revolution
Kingdom Under Fire : Circle of Doom
The common thread here is on the cheap
, though I was genuinely enthusiastic to pick up B/K-N&B at some point… that holiday period was just TOO packed, but I’m sure it will prove worth the wait. The Darkness got a heap of buzz when it release way back in mid ‘07. and largely because it released during one of the worse dead periods of this generation to date… It’s gonna go somewhere toward the back of my pile more than likely.
Kingdom Under Fire as the traditional RTS / Action mix-up game for the original Xbox was one of my more beloved games, unfortunate then that I have absolutely no idea what’s going on with the proposed sequel… but hey in the mean timeB BlueSide has created the mash-up RPG-lite Circle of Doom, yep thats probably going to the back of the pile aswell.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Raceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer!, that is all.
Finally Civ. Rev., with no prior experience in the series I looked to this title as my gateway drug. Thankfully it recently became ‘affordable’, so I forsee it wont be too long before the disk fires up in my X360.
Why do you buy these games you have no intention of playing you may ask? well first shut it pretentious wa**…and secondly its not that I dont intend to ever play them, they have at one point had my interest as I follow this medium we enjoy so much. The current dry spell has afforded me a greater ability to acquire games still floating around from times past, and damned if I’ll pass on a bargain.
Oh final word, cause this has to get a mention… picked up an Xbox 360 Elite this week past! And began to fill that sucker with demos & game installs. Very happy with purchase
, and I now have a ‘reserve’ console in case the dreaded ‘that which must not be named’ finally points its deadthly finger at my hardware and whispers ‘its time’.
