Overnight Nintendo sent out a press release confirming the existance of their next generation handheld platform tentatively (and uninspiringly) named the ‘Nintendo 3DS’.
As usual, I’ll go with joystiq.com to provide you the full story.
While we anxiously await more information from Nintendo at this year’s E3, we are pleased with the upfront statement of backwards compatiblity support for the extensive existing librarly of DS titles.
This news should likely result in greater publisher interest for Nintendo’s handheld market dominating product as the platform has received treatment bordering contempt from the industry in the form of shovelware. Although, while interesting things continue to come out of japan, I remain interested in handheld gaming.
